I found myself working in the defense industry for several years after graduating college with an engineering degree. During my time on the job, I traveled a fair amount and racked up miles and points from the travel itself and the reimbursable expenses from my points earning credit card.
In 2014, I left my job to travel full-time because I couldn’t accomplish my “bucket list” with the meager vacation time. I’m currently burning all the miles/points I’ve accumulated over the years.
The freedom has allowed me to complete some big time bucket list items such as the Mongol Rally, travel around New Zealand, and Summit Kilimanjaro with more adventures to come.
After amassing millions of frequent flyer miles and points over the years, it was time to take a break from the demands of a Los Angeles music industry career to travel full time.
Travel is truly my passion and knowing how to take five star vacations at one star prices has allowed me experiences that might otherwise have been previously unimaginable.
Whether it’s an overwater bungalow on a private island in the Maldives, a creepy government monitored hotel in North Korea, or a multi-day Mediterranean cruise, I am never more content than when visiting a new place or embarking on a new adventure.
We’re frequent flyer mile specialists assisting clients to use their frequent flyer mile balances for trips. Our knowledge stems from first hand experience from redeeming our own points for our own trips.
We’re adventurous travelers where we’ve been to some off the beaten countries. For instance, Mike has driven a car from Europe to Mongolia in the spirit of adventure and charity. Melissa has been to North Korea. Between the two of us, we’ve got most of the world covered.
In addition to the adventures, we also like to kick back and relax and have traveled to exotic places like Bora Bora, Maldives, Mauritius, and Seychelles.
All of our trips have been independently funded with our own resources either using cash or miles/points redemptions. We are NOT travel agents and have no affiliations with any travel provider. If you ask us of our opinion about a particular destination, it’s solely our own.
HISTORY of iflywithmiles:
It all started in 2011 when US Airways(remember them!) had their “Grand Slam Promo” where certain activities generated a “hit” and earned US Airways miles. One of the “hits” was to sign-up for a domain name. Without giving too much thought for a name to serve a legitimate business, iflywithmiles.com was simply used because it was the most appropriate name for the purpose at the time.
Rather than just having a domain idle and expire, the idea to start a frequent flyer mile redemption service was born a few months later when a former colleague wanted to learn to make a web site and proposed this site as the idea. Since then, hundreds of clients have benefited from the service.
